Eye Candy Friday
Sorry this post is late today. We are having internet connectivity issues at home. It's supposed to be fixed by the end of today but if you don't hear from me over the weekend . . . well, you'll know why.

My garden is too sunny for Bleeding Heart, these belong to my sister-in-law, Mary. I love the color and the delicateness of the blooms.
Have a terrific weekend!

A co-worker remarked to me yesterday that she thinks the flowering trees are especially beautiful this year. After contemplating my flowering crab tree, I'd have to agree.

Eye Candy Thursday?

I love this single pink tulip that's blooming in my garden right now. So strong and yet so fragile. So pink and yet so . . . well, pink. Just for you, Cookie!
I'm off on my trip to Washington, DC and Maryland Sheep and Wool. I'm excited to meet Hillary and (hopefully) many other blogging friends. Wish me safe travels and blue skies, won't you? Thanks!
Look for a new post here on Tuesday and have a great weekend!

I hope you aren't tired of daffodils because I can't seem to stop photographing them. They are everywhere I look right now, dotting the landscape with their sunny yellow petals and bright orange centers. Ahhhh.

There is a mass of these sweet little squill growing between my yard and my father-in-law's yard next door. The blue is so bright and the green is so vivid and I took about a million pictures of them yesterday. This one is my favorite - hope you like it, too.

I came home from work yesterday and found this blooming daffodil by my back door.

And I broke into song.
At last
My love has come along
My lonely days over
And life is like a song
I hope you find something to sing about this weekend, too.

Dale brought me a bouquet of roses last week to thank me for being such a great nurse during his time of need. Truth be told, I prefer tulips or daffodils or wildflowers. But roses sure are fun to photograph and I loved having them on my windowsill all week.
Have a terrific weekend everyone. And don't forget to stop and smell the roses!

My mom died 10 years ago today. On the one hand, I can't believe it's been ten years. And on the other, wow, ten years? You know what I mean, I'm sure.

My mom made me this ceramic easter egg in 1979. Her attention to detail was incredible! She painted little squares to make it look like the bunnies are sleeping under a patchwork quilt and many of those squares are symbolic. A "C" for Carole, a teeny Siamese cat.

I treasure my memories of my mom and I treasure the mementos I have that spark those memories, too.
Have a great weekend and tell someone you love them, okay?

I know what you're thinking: Pink tulips, again? But these are very special pink tulips. You see, they were a gift from my father-in-law to thank me for making the cream puffs on Valentine's Day. This gesture just about melted my heart, I tell you.
And now you know why Dale is so thoughtful. He learned it from his dad.

I have always said that if I ever won the lottery - and that would be a true miracle since I don't actually play the lottery - that one of the first things I would do would be to set up weekly flower deliveries. I adore fresh flowers, they make my world a better place. The roses are from the bouquet Dale gave me for Valentine's Day. He makes my world a better place, too.

Eye Candy Thursday
Presenting: Eye Candy Friday - The Thursday Edition. Because, truly, I have nothing for today. Besides, if Kristi can do ECF early then so can I.

I took this photo last week at the Cape. At the beginning of our week we vowed to take a walk every night but between a bit of rain or a bit of company we didn't actually do it every night. The nights we did were wonderful, though.

Eye Candy Friday
We interrupt this Eye Candy Friday post for three extremely important announcements.
1) Thank you all from the bottom of my heart for your love, thoughts, prayers and concerns for all of us over the loss of my friend Debbie. I want you to know that every single comment meant the world to me. Your concern and prayers for my family and Debbie's have overwhelmed me with gratitude and given me a real sense of peace. Truly. I have the best readers.
2) You have until tomorrow night to vote for Ryan. If you don't know what I'm talking about you can go here, here or here. Now, please go vote. Five times. Thank you.
3) As of tonight, I am on vacation and heading to Cape Cod with my family. There will be radio silence here at Carole Knits until Monday, August 20th. Sure hope you can bear it.
We now return to our regularly scheduled Eye Candy Friday post.

A bouquet of four pink roses representing Lois, Sharon, Wendy and I, and one lavender rose representing Debbie. The four of us went together to the accident site and left these there in memory of Debbie. I'll admit that I've always considered roadside memorials a bit on the tacky side. But I get it now. You need to leave something to let people know that someone special died there. And Debbie sure was special.
Thanks again for thinking of us. See you on the 20th.

Let us, then, at the time appointed gather around their sacred remains and garland the passionless mounds above them with the choicest flowers of spring-time; let us raise above them the dear old flag they saved from dishonor; let us in this solemn presence renew our pledges to aid and assist those whom they have left among us a sacred charge upon a nation's gratitude, the soldier's and sailor's widow and orphan.
