Ladies and Gentlemen, we have a winner and it's Marti with 288 skeins of yarn. Dude, that's a LOT of yarn. So, Marti, c'mon down and claim your prize! And the prize is $50 from kpixie, $25 from me and $25 matched by our grrls Missa and Jessica.
Here's the final list:
Marti = 288, Elspeth = 245, Dave = 224, Renata = 115, Risa= 110, Christine = 107, Michelle = 107, Dee = 91, Mindy = 91, Deb = 90, Debi = 85, Carole = 79, Emily = 79,
This was loads of fun and I met some great bloggers! Thank you all for participating and sending me purchase updates and showing me some nifty yarn. Congratulations again to our final winner, Marti!
And speaking of finals, guess where we're going tonight and Tuesday night? I'm so excited I can hardly stand it!

I may be late in posting tomorrow. I'm sure you'll forgive me.

Buy More Yarn Update: The Second
The Buy More Yarn Program continues to astound me. Can I be frank? Some of you people are nuts! I'm happy to keep track of this stuff (must be the librarian in me, right Kat?) but I'm completely out of my league when it comes to keeping up with your yarn purchases. Maybe we need to have a Buy More Spinning Wheels Program. Then I could actually be a contender.
Anyway, enough about me, here's this month's scores.
In the lead we have Elspeth with 126. Renata is catching up with 115 and, sadly, Risa has fallen way behind with only 93. Other contenders are Michelle with 90, Dee with 78 and Christine with 77.
So, while Risa and Dave were early leaders, they just haven't kept up. And some of you are just not taking this seriously at all. Esther? Emmy You guys been shopping or what?
Anyone else have purchases to tell me about? Send an email to cjuliusATcarverplDOTorg and I'll update your points.

Buy More Yarn Update
Have you all been following the hoarders shoppers over at the Buy More Yarn Along? These people are mad. Or maybe just independently wealthy.
Whatever the case, the program has been a huge success so far! I thought there would be a handful of people to sign up. Maybe 7 or even 10 at the most. There are actually 38 participants! And they are mostly all out there buying yarn.
As of today, Risa is in the lead with 73 points, but Dave is looming behind her with 72 points! Dee has 63 points and Elspeth has 52. The rest of you aren't even close to these overachievers! They're leaving you in the dust, people!
Want to sign up for the program? It's not too late and all purchases made after January 19, 2006 count. Send me an email at cjulius AT carverpl DOT org and put Buy More Yarn in the subject line.
Have purchases to tell me about? Just send an email to cjulius AT carverpl DOT org and, again, put Buy More Yarn in the subject line. Tell me how many skeins of yarn or ounces of fiber you bought and I'll add your points for you.
Now, get on out there and SHOP!

The Anti-Stash-Along
I'm really glad that you all like the newly organized computer/fiber/book space. It feels great to have it done, I can tell you that.
I've noticed a theme that keeps coming up in the comments for this post, however. I keep hearing that I don't have much of a stash. In my defense, I have to say that I have a difficult time buying yarn for which I have no plan. This is probably why I have so much sock yarn - you don't need a plan for sock yarn. So, I am soliciting advice on how to buy yarn when you don't know what you're going to do with it. Those of you with big ole stashes, how did you accomplish this? And how do you decide how much to buy of a particular yarn when you don't know what it's going to become? Hmmmm?
In the meantime, however, I've been called an amateur! My stash has been labeled anemic! I've been ridiculed about the size of both my yarn and fiber stashes! I have been challenged to increase the size of the stash! Well, I've never been one to ignore an outcry of this magnitude. You all have thrown down the proverbial gauntlet and I'm grabbing it. I am therefore announcing a new program over here at Carole Knits, at the suggestion of Chris. It's the Increase-Your-Stash-Along! My buddy Dave is joining me and he even created this nifty button:

(you know the drill, please save to your own server, yada yada yada)
There's only one rule and it's pretty simple. You must buy yarn.
Want to join us?
Edited to add: I've created a new blog page. Go check out Buy More Yarn for a list of rules and participants.
