Weekend Recap

So, it's not bronchitis. It's a sinus infection. Oh, and also two ear infections. I spent most of Thursday, all of Friday and all of Saturday on the couch knitting and blowing my nose and coughing. Good times.

I did manage to have a pleasant weekend in spite of the sickness. We had dinner with friends one night and dinner at home one night. We watched two movies. Michael Clayton - meh. And Waitress - woot. We played games by the fire. And we went for a Sunday drive. I didn't take a single photo, though. I think I was too busy expending all my energy on coughing. And blowing my nose. And did I mention knitting?

The knitting is significant because all that knitting time allowed me to finish the Aspen Grove Shawl. I thought sure I'd finish on Friday but I didn't. Then I thought sure I'd finish on Saturday. But I didn't. I finally finished last night. Man alive, those rows are looooooong at the end! It's done and ready for blocking.

And now I'm done and need to get ready for work. Have a great day.

Hope you're feeling better fast :) It's a shame we can't block out colds, no? Can not wait to see your new Aspen Grove!

Posted by: Carol at March 3, 2008 7:10 AM

Same to you! I hope you feel better. I swear by half hot cider, half ginger tea.

Posted by: Lucia at March 3, 2008 7:15 AM

I just started section 3 and it's going to take me all week (or more) to finish it. I can feel the rows going on and on...easy knitting, however.
Don't over do and take care of yourself!

Oh dear....sinus infections are THE worst! I hope you feel better soon!

You are finished with your shawl? Woman you are a knitting machine!!!

Posted by: Kim at March 3, 2008 7:44 AM

yuck, sinus infections and ears. Glad you're feeling better. Agree with Lucia about ginger tea, I put half a lemon in each cup too.

Yuck. I hate sinus infections. Hope you are better soon!

Posted by: Chris at March 3, 2008 8:19 AM

Wow - double ear infection. Yikes!! Hope your recovery is a quick one!!

Posted by: jessica~ at March 3, 2008 8:27 AM

Any one of those ailments would have knocked me out. Hope you're feeling better today.

Feel better soon! Can't wait to see Aspen Grove blocked and on you!

Posted by: Manise at March 3, 2008 8:38 AM

Posted by: Hillary at March 3, 2008 8:41 AM

glad you're feeling better though. i'm home today. which isn't a bad thing actually.

Posted by: maryse at March 3, 2008 8:43 AM

I hope you feel better soon Carole; sinus infections are horrible and with two ear infections that would be really miserable - although finishing Aspen Grove may be a wee tiny solace! Congrats on that, can't wait to see it!

Posted by: Cynthia at March 3, 2008 9:09 AM

Wow, you got a lot done for being sick. When I'm that sick, knitting (especially lace!) would be the LAST thing on my mind. Sinus infections and ear infections make my head explode.

Posted by: Norma at March 3, 2008 9:21 AM

Oh, yuck! Hopefully you have some good drugs that will knock those infections out. Can't wait to see the shawl.

Posted by: Leslie at March 3, 2008 9:31 AM

Good lord, woman. Sinus infection and ear infections and you're going into WORK? I hope that means you're feeling better.

Posted by: Kellee at March 3, 2008 9:31 AM

Posted by: Deb at March 3, 2008 9:33 AM

Hope you are feeling better!! And congrats on the shawl - can't wait to see it.

Posted by: Lisa at March 3, 2008 9:35 AM

I've had one sinus infection and remember it vividly! Poor baby...I really do feel for you on that one. Glad you are feeling well enough to go back to work...sorry you HAD to go back to work! I loved "Waitress" by the way, haven't seen the other one.

Posted by: Marcia Cooke at March 3, 2008 9:53 AM

I've heard that Waitress is good. I need to rent it soon. E and I watched No Reservations the other night. It was a bit sad, but it was still a good movie. I hope you feel better really soon!

Posted by: Beth at March 3, 2008 9:57 AM

Oh my! I'm so sorry....what is it this year with sinus infections? And EARs, too??? (sigh)
However, you were productive and I can't wait to see Aspen Grove!
(((hugs)))

Posted by: --Deb at March 3, 2008 10:30 AM

Glad to hear it's not bronchitis - hope you are feeling better soon. Haven't seen Waitress, but I quite enjoyed Michael Clayton - what didn't you like?

Posted by: michaele at March 3, 2008 10:44 AM

Ugh, ugh, thrice ugh! At least infections are readily treated. Don't over-do, finish your antibiotics, and feel better soon.

Posted by: Ina at March 3, 2008 10:45 AM

That was the same re-diagnosis I had, that it was a sinus infection. Again. And they have me some soft of sulphur-based antibiotic. And I had a reaction to that. Ugh, nothing like being sick, and getting sicker. I hope you're do MUCH better by now. And still knitting!

Posted by: Dave Daniels at March 3, 2008 10:57 AM

Didn't you already see Waitress? I could swear we talked about it at Spa. No? I almost got Michael Clayton on PPV this weekend but never managed to push the button on the remote. I must have been receiving subliminal telepathic signals from you!

Still on for tonight?

Posted by: Martha at March 3, 2008 11:00 AM

Good thoughts headed your way! Can't wait to see the completed Aspen Grove Shawl! So, Michael Calyton wasn't so good. I haven't seen it yet and was waiting til the library got it. I did reserve CLOSE TO HER with Julie Christie.

Posted by: Sara at March 3, 2008 11:25 AM

Oh my goodness. I hope you are feeling better!

Posted by: scoutj at March 3, 2008 11:33 AM

Oh my goodness. I hope you are feeling better!

Posted by: scoutj at March 3, 2008 11:37 AM

I'm another vote for ginger tea. That stuff cures everything. I am amazed that you were able to knit lace while as sick as you are. You are truly a wonder woman. I hope you start feeling better soon.

Posted by: Cookie at March 3, 2008 12:17 PM

Get better fast. I also say woot to Waitress.

Posted by: Mandy at March 3, 2008 12:54 PM

And you're still going to work? :-(

Posted by: Beth S. at March 3, 2008 1:08 PM

I hope you feel better!

Posted by: Karen at March 3, 2008 1:24 PM

Were you kissing Maryse again?

Posted by: Danielle at March 3, 2008 1:56 PM

You poor thing. I hope you start feeling better really soon. It must be difficult to try and work and keep any level of concentration when you're dealing with those symptoms.

I also really liked Waitress. I wasn't expecting much and was most pleasantly surprised.

Posted by: ~Kristie at March 3, 2008 3:11 PM

Hope you feel better! What a wonderful weekend.

Posted by: Robin in VA at March 3, 2008 4:08 PM

Sinus infections are no fun. Hope your feeling all better soon. Can't wait to see the finished shawl!

Posted by: Kelly at March 3, 2008 6:50 PM

In some ways... don't you hate getting sick on the weekends? Glad you're feeling better.

Posted by: lisa at March 3, 2008 7:52 PM

Best wishes! Remember to bundle up and keep those ears warm for a few weeks so the infection doesn't return. Good use for a shawl!

Posted by: Sylvia at March 3, 2008 8:22 PM

you must have been a schoolteacher in a former life, being sick all weekend and back to work on Monday.

Posted by: Alarming Female at March 3, 2008 8:56 PM

I hope you recover quickly. I hurt just thinking about it.

Posted by: Sarah at March 4, 2008 1:03 AM

I'm glad you're feeling better hunny!

I haven't seen Michael Clayton but I hated Waitress - I thought it was beyond stupid!

Posted by: Debi at March 4, 2008 3:59 AM

Ew. Feel better soon!

Posted by: Emily at March 4, 2008 6:09 AM

I'm so sorry you were sick in multiple uncomfortable areas. Sounds like recovery is proceeding well.
