Things That Make Me Go Hmmm

With apologies to The Bangles, it's Just Another Manic Random Monday.

~Have you seen Air Set? It's a very cool online calendar and my family started using it last week. It's really helpful for keeping track of everyone's busy schedules.

~I can't believe I never posted a photo of my wonderful Special Swap package from Kat. The theme was a picnic but Kat decided to just send great yarn-y type things and that was just absolutely fine with me. I'm really excited to try that Tofootsies!

~October is National Breast Cancer Awareness Month. I've had my annual screening, how about you?

~I've been doing a fair amount of spinning lately, trying to "spin down" the stash in preparation for Rhinebeck purchases.

~And speaking of Rhinebeck, 4 more sleeps. Squeee! Who will be there?

Yum, lots of pretty yarns. I'm so envious of all of you that get to go to Rhinebeck! I hope I'll be able to make it someday.

Also, hooray for the clear mammogram!

Posted by: Rachel at October 15, 2007 7:16 AM

Hooray for good mammograms! I'm overdue, but have to wait until I'm done nursing.

Rhinebeck? I'm so there.

Posted by: Ruth at October 15, 2007 7:26 AM

Kat certainly does a fabulous job of packing a picnic! WOW!
Your handspun yarn is Gorgeous!

Had mine done Saturday.........see you on Friday!!!!!

Posted by: Kim at October 15, 2007 9:00 AM

Good news on the mammo! I have mine done as part of my annual physical in July every year and have switched to a new imaging center. That is so much like a spa I am almost looking forward to the next mammogram! Seriously, as I was standing there, hokding onto the machin and looking up, I see a lighted ceiling panel with blue sky, clouds, and cherry blossoms! (They even have fountains and a computer in the waiting area...)

Posted by: Marcia Cooke at October 15, 2007 9:05 AM

That online calendar looks really cool.

Your spinning is so beautiful! Wish I were going to be at Rhinebeck, but alas, not this year :( Hopefully, next year :)

Posted by: Julie at October 15, 2007 9:08 AM

I've had my annual mammo AND an ultrasound. They really are over-achievers with me. But better safe than sorry, I guess.

See you in Rhinebeck! I can't believe it's so close! I'd better get my work done, damnit!

Posted by: Norma at October 15, 2007 9:09 AM

I'll be there on Saturday! I'm taking the bus from WEBS...

Posted by: Cece at October 15, 2007 9:44 AM

I'll see you at Rhinebeck, baby!

Your Airset link seems to log me in as you. (It says "Welcome Carole Julius." I'm worried about security...

Posted by: mamacate at October 15, 2007 9:54 AM

FOUR! I'd better get busy. Miles to go...

Posted by: Judy at October 15, 2007 10:03 AM

Nice package and beautiful yarns. Hope to see you at Rhinebeck! :)

Posted by: Jessica at October 15, 2007 10:16 AM

I just had my very first mammogram! It wasn't as bad as I expected. I had heard so many horror stories but frankly, it was a piece of cake. Now I just need to drag my mother in for hers.....should be fun, fun, fun.

Posted by: Michelle at October 15, 2007 10:50 AM

No Rhinebeck for me this year. Maybe next year. Your spinning looks great and so does the swap package you got.

Posted by: Hillary at October 15, 2007 11:02 AM

Only 4?? Wow, this month is flying!

Posted by: Cheryl at October 15, 2007 11:21 AM

I'm drooling here! So much yarn, so many ideas. Ever hear of a pleasure overload? :D

Posted by: Teresa at October 15, 2007 11:57 AM

Oh yes, I've had my annual screening. You'd think they would improve that technology to be less viselike...

Posted by: Chris at October 15, 2007 12:17 PM

Oh, that's good news. Yes, I had my first mammogram this year. It's the first year I didn't have to have a full chest x-ray to scan for the other resident cancer so I dutifully reported to have the porch squished. All clear. Whew. (And my liver's clean, too.)

My MIL, however, had many years of clear mammograms and this year they found a five-year-old set of breast cancer tumors so she's going through chemo and radiation. Please be ruthless with your self-check because sometimes it's more effective than the scans!

Have fun at Rhinebeck.

Posted by: Sylvia at October 15, 2007 12:28 PM

Whoa, Carole, you need to change your link for AirSet -- it logs me into your calendar...

Posted by: Sylvia at October 15, 2007 12:29 PM

I'll be there and you are on my bingo card so I will definitely have to find you at some point.

Posted by: Britt at October 15, 2007 1:00 PM

Yay mammogram!

I'll reach out my hand, it's true,
Snatch merino fleece from you,
Where there is fiber,
I'll be there.

(Now I'll have *that* song in my head all day, and this time I have no one but myself to blame.)

Posted by: Lucia at October 15, 2007 1:08 PM

I'm in! Can not wait to talk to you in person!

Posted by: Mama-E at October 15, 2007 1:38 PM

Healthy bewbs are always great news :)

Nice package from Kat, so many goodies!

Once again, no Rheinbeck :(

Posted by: Debi Leshin at October 15, 2007 2:03 PM

maybe they are keeping me out cause I can't spell it ? Rhinebeck!

Posted by: Debi Leshin at October 15, 2007 2:05 PM

What a lovely package! Congrats on the good results! Lovely spinning as always, Carole.

Posted by: Cookie at October 15, 2007 2:13 PM

I'll be there! It's my first one, and I can't wait!

I made some socks using Tofutsies recently. I thought they would be kind of droopy, because even on US1 needles, they felt loose, but they firmed and softened after a wash, and now they're one of my favorite pairs!

Posted by: Marlena at October 15, 2007 3:12 PM

Delighted you got a clean bill o' health. Important stuff to do.

Hah - spin down the stash. I like that one.:)

Posted by: Anne at October 15, 2007 3:27 PM

Hope you have a fabulous time at Rhinebeck! I am a few too many thousand miles away, sadly.

Posted by: BigAlice at October 15, 2007 3:39 PM

hoping to go to Rhinebeck and hoping the rain holds off!

Posted by: Grace at October 15, 2007 4:04 PM

What a great package! Your handspun looks beautiful. I've been spinning down my stash as well. I can't wait for Rhinebeck, hope to see you there!

Posted by: Kelly at October 15, 2007 5:25 PM

SQUEE right back at ya!
xo

Posted by: sandy at October 15, 2007 5:27 PM

Love the yarn you spun! No Rhinebeck for me this year. Hopefully one day though.

Posted by: Wool Winder at October 15, 2007 7:21 PM

dang.. I am totally wanting to go to Rhinebeck.. maybe next year :-)
Have a blast!

Posted by: Teyani at October 15, 2007 9:41 PM

Hey, Carole, we'll be there, sans child...

Are you doing Winebeck again? We're not really up for the Morehouse Merino zoo, but no one at Ravelry has announced where the Ravelry party would be, and we're trying to figure out what to do that Saturday night with our favourite fuzzy people...

Let me know what you're doing!

Posted by: Lee Ann at October 15, 2007 9:42 PM

I will be there in all of my glassy-eyed, over stimulated glory!

Posted by: elizabeth at October 15, 2007 9:53 PM

Your yarn looks great! And what is the purple/green yarn that Kat sent?

Posted by: Beth at October 15, 2007 10:13 PM

Had my first ever mammogram last week, all was fine. Have been telling all my friends to go get one, they are no big deal!
And I will see you at Rhinebeck!

Posted by: Katy at October 15, 2007 10:38 PM

Nice...package. *giggle*

No really, it's nice and I love the yarn - just saying 'nice package' makes me giggle like a 12 year old...'cuz I'm mature like that. ;o)

See you Saturday!
