Monkey See, Monkey Two
I made another pair of Monkey Socks. I chose the pattern because it's entertaining and easily memorized. And I chose the yarn (Woolen Rabbit Rosemary & Thyme Superwash) because I knew I'd be spending time with Kim and I thought she'd enjoy seeing me knit with her yarn while we were together.

I started them at the airport in Providence and by the time I got to Phoenix (name that tune!) I had finished the leg and heel flap.

When my plane landed in Salt Lake City I had finished the gusset decreases and was halfway down the foot of sock one.

And by the time I was on my way home, I had finished sock two. In fact, I kitchenered the toe while waiting to board the plane that would take me from Baltimore to Providence and ultimately home.

5 days for a pair of socks. A record for me. And my twentieth pair in 2007.

As I've said before, you ARE the sock Goddess! Those look beautiful in that colorway. I have some too- just may have to make some Monkeys with mine!

Excellent job! I knew you could finish them before you got home. You are an amazingly fast sock knitter!!
Posted by: Kim at October 2, 2007 6:46 AM
Lovely idea, knitting on Kim yarn with Kim. You are FAST.

The pattern show up so well with that yarn.

My husband is a huge Glen Campbell fan. ;)
Nice socks! And how sweet to knit with Kim's yarn.

Lovely socks! The yarn and the pattern are a perfect match.
Posted by: Karen at October 2, 2007 7:23 AM
Record time because all you HAD was time. They are such good looking socks and I love saying they are so soft, too! Nice yarn, nice trip, nice socks. ;-)

By the time I get to Phoenix she'll be knitting... beautiful speedy socks!
Posted by: Lucia at October 2, 2007 8:02 AM
Nice Monkeys and knit at the speed of light!

Glen would be proud! I LOVE that color; very fall-ish.

Beautiful!

So pretty! Twenty pairs this year!?! Wow!!
Posted by: Kirsten at October 2, 2007 8:17 AM
I'm sure I could never finish a pair of socks that quickly. They're beautiful!
Posted by: Wool Winder at October 2, 2007 8:18 AM
Pretty! Nothing like some airplane time to make a pair happen like lightning.
Posted by: PumpkinMama at October 2, 2007 8:39 AM
you are a sock knitting machine! I love that colorway - may have to get some myself...
Posted by: michaele at October 2, 2007 8:46 AM
So pretty! I can't knit anything quickly these days ...
Posted by: Ruth at October 2, 2007 8:48 AM

those are lovely by the way.
Posted by: maryse at October 2, 2007 8:52 AM
And I still haven't finished the one sock I started last year.
Posted by: Amy at October 2, 2007 9:06 AM
And such a really lovely 20th pair, too! enjoy them, it's almost time for daily wool. :-(

Socks are my favorite plane knitting, but I'm not that fast! I can get a baby sock per flight when we go to SLC! Sounds like you went Southwest? Next time you guys go, I'll meet you in Baltimore and fly out with you.
Posted by: Marcia Cooke at October 2, 2007 9:35 AM
Wow! I'm very impressed that you had them done so fast! They're beautiful! Did you have anything else to knit on the last part of your flight home?
Posted by: Beth at October 2, 2007 9:36 AM
What great fall-winter colors! I bet you are dipping into your sock collection to keep warm now, and even considering putting the top back on the Jeep.
Posted by: Birdsong at October 2, 2007 9:38 AM
Beautiful socks and beautiful yarn!
Posted by: Meadow at October 2, 2007 9:44 AM
They are delightful! I'm almost done with my first pair of Monkeys. I also love how quick and easy the pattern is -I forgot it at home once and could keep going.
Posted by: Stacey at October 2, 2007 9:48 AM
Lovely yarn/pattern/knitting combo! And thanks for modeling them. So many times I've seen pics of Monkey socks "off the hoof", so to speak, and they've looked so...cobly, bumpy. They didn't appeal. But THEN you put them on, and now I'll have to knit a pair! See what you've done! VBG!
Posted by: Barbara-Kay at October 2, 2007 9:57 AM
Wow, that's impressive! I still have two socks to go before I start Monkeys
Posted by: Paula at October 2, 2007 10:18 AM
Awesome...I LOVE the Monkey pattern, I agree it's easy to memorize and a very fast knit!
Posted by: Robin in VA at October 2, 2007 10:32 AM
That's a great pattern, and you've made some great socks with it! But the real news--20 pairs! Your feet will never be cold again. :)
Posted by: Amy at October 2, 2007 10:38 AM
Wow. That's impressive. Something tells me my current socks will not have the same quick finish time.
Posted by: Stephanie at October 2, 2007 11:05 AM
20 pairs, my goodness! Lots of socks and warm feet. Monekeys are a great pattern and that colorway is beautiful.
Posted by: Wanda at October 2, 2007 11:15 AM
Very pretty socks and very pretty colorway!
Posted by: Alison at October 2, 2007 11:23 AM
Hee! I just finished my first pair last night, though I still have to weave the toe! Your color is gorgeous!
Posted by: Leah at October 2, 2007 11:31 AM
What pretty socks! I love the colorway and the pattern itself. I've been playing with the idea to knit a pair of cookie's socks, I just love her work!
Posted by: Teresa at October 2, 2007 11:53 AM
They look great. And TWENTY pairs?!? Wow!
Posted by: Kathy at October 2, 2007 12:30 PM
Great monkeys! Love that picot edge. Another fabulous pair, Carole!
Posted by: Cookie at October 2, 2007 1:27 PM
Beautiful colors! 20 pairs?! Whew. That's a lot of sock knitting. Of course, after the SOS, well... it's still a lot!
Posted by: Jessica at October 2, 2007 1:44 PM
Five days? Wow! It seems like most knitters whip this pattern out at record speed. I think I may be one of the last knitbloggers left who haven't knit this pattern, but I can feel myself breaking down every time I see a new pair. They're lovely!
Posted by: Rachel at October 2, 2007 1:56 PM
Those are beautiful sock! I'm going to try that pattern...it's just so pretty...
Posted by: Sara at October 2, 2007 5:11 PM

They're beautiful, and you knit them so quickly! I just started my first pair of Monkeys and I'm loving them. The pattern is so fun and easy. Enjoy!
Posted by: brenda at October 2, 2007 6:54 PM
You rock!
Those look awesome - love that colorway.
I finished my first monkeys a few months ago and will probably do more in the future. :)
Posted by: Elizabeth at October 2, 2007 7:38 PM
I do love that color/yarn, and am astounded at your speed. My fastest pair were 10 days (though that was for a friend with size 11 feet, so maybe if yours are petite. . .)
Posted by: Alarming Female at October 2, 2007 9:25 PM
socks in 5 days! wow. and they're lovely. I really like Kim's colors - all of them!

oooh! those came out nice. Impressive speediness :)
One of my good friends and I started socks together. She's finished hers and they look great. I'm still working on number 1. Someday I'll finish. hehe
