Where Have All the Good Times Gone?
The vacation is over and I'm back at work. Ugh. At least it's raining. Last week was a seriously wonderful week. Dale was at work, Hannah was at school and I was . . . at home. By myself. Let's take a look at my previously stated vacation goals and see how I did.
~weed garden
~plant annuals
Check. Hannah helped with the weeding and Dale helped with the flower selections and planting.
~get haircut & color
Check. It looks good, too but you'll just have to trust me on that one.
~spin every day
Check. I have a bobbin and a half full to prove it.
~practice spindle spinning
Check. I put that basket of spindles on the hutch in the dining room. Sitting right there it's so easy to grab one and spindle for a few moments a few times a day.
~go to YMCA 3 times
Whoops. I never even made it once.
~dye some yarn and/or roving
Check. I'll have more on this tomorrow.
~fix the everyday cardigan
Whoops. I thought about it and read about how to do it. But it was pretty warm last week and the idea of sitting with a wool sweater in my lap was less than appealing. I'll tackle this one soon, though, because I really want that sweater to be wearable.
~knit a pair of bootees
Check. They are my first pair of baby bootees ever and they were quick and fun to knit. The pattern is Herringbone Bootees from 50 Baby Bootees to Knit. Size 2 needles with Rowan 4 Ply Cotton. These are a gift for a friend and they're getting mailed off today.
I also did several other things that weren't on my list like have breakfast with a new friend and go shoe shopping and have lunch at Panera and watch my soap every day. It was a fabulous vacation. What a shame it had to end.

Sounds like heaven! Also sounds like it's time for retirement. ;-)
Love the flowers - and the fiber pics are even nicer. I think I need to get me a blue-green batt like that - yum. Your dyed yarn is pretty - I especially like the 'early spring maple'.

What a great way to spend a vacation!
Booties are the first thing I ever knit. I was a crocheter and offered a bunch of pattern books to my pregnant sister so she could choose what she wanted for her first born. She chose one of only 5 knitted pair of booties from over 100! LOL I figured then that I'd better learn to knit, if only so I could make those for her...and I haven't stopped since. Ruth is right - booties have a special addictive power.

Oo love your nasturtiums, those have been my favorite since I was a toddler when I called them "nasty urchents". The spinning is gorgeous as usual! Sounds like a fab week indeed.

'Kay, the booties are adorable, but I love the colors on the yarn you dyed. Yummy! We were treated with some lovely days this week, much to my surprise! Did I get anything done? Not with Mr Droolsby in his latest stage: grabby and gabby.

Wouldn't it be perfect to be 'kept' women? ;-) I have a thing for flower boxes and hanging planters and yours are the nicest I've seen for a long time! Love all the color. Sounds like you know how to relax and vacation well!

That's the trouble with vacations; they are never long enough!
You did a pretty good job on that list of goals; I usually have a list and am lucky if I do one thing on it :)

Those booties are so sweet! I'd even use that stitch pattern on big-person socks, too... it's very pretty.
You know the truism about spindles, right? Slower by the hour but faster by the week. ;-) You can get a surprising amount done just by picking up the spindle for a few minutes here and there during the day!
I'm sorry you've had to come back down to earth and all. The first day back after a heavenly vacation is particularly tragic. ;-)

I'm very impressed. You did good. Really good. Everything looks wonderful. I need to follow your lead and put my spindle and some fiber in a prominent place so I can pick it up for a few minutes a day.

My all time favorite way to spend vacation time! The bootees are adorable, in your opinion, are you happy with the purchase of that book? I've been eyeing it for quite some time.
