I always gather pine cones, meaning to do something creative with them for the holidays. I couldn't improve on your tree, though.

December? I could have sworn it was May, when I opened the front door and stepped outside this morning... This is probably a sign of the apocalypse, I figure.

I just LOVE pinecones. Or balsam cones, or whatever species those are! They are especially wonderful. Stupid-ass Bloglines.

Pretty!

It looks like someone hung them on the tree. Cool!

Schmoglines...
Love your photo. Will the backdrop be white anytime soon? We've gone from mild to miserable (now with a coating of white) in just a few short days.
Happy weekend.

Are those REAL?

Are those little hemlock danglies? Those are great for decorating with. Oodles of fun. You can make holidya garlands just by wrapping string around them and draping them.
VERY pretty photograph, too.

When I read that I thought "December??" As if *you* were off your rocker. Where in the world did October and November go? Can I get a do-over on those months, please?
I thought it was just me with the bloglines thing, glad to know we're suffering together.

I finished my first Dulaan sweater right under the deadline for KUO... thanks for hosting Carole!

Hemlock cones! I ADORE them! Those trees only grow in very particular places around here (just the right amount of shade and moisture) and even then the cones are even tinier than the kind in your picture, nearly impossible to find and hardly worth gathering. Seeing this makes me homesick for Seattle.
Fantastic photo.

your pinecones look like christmas bells :-)

Just read your "100 things." I'm not a quilter, but you can sign me up for that anti-red hat club!

Hi, Carole!!! I don't think I've ever seen pinecones like that! Guess I need to get out of the midwest once in awhile. Can't wait to catch up on your blog...it's one of my favorites!

I absolutely love your tree and tiny pine cones. Reminds me of a tree in my parents' yard when I was a kid. :-)
