This is my 300th post! I can't believe I've found something to talk about 300 times and yet, the proof is in the numbers. So, in honor of this milestone, let's talk about knitting, shall we? I'll bet you'd like to see what's on my needles, in fact.
Here is Wing of the Moth.
If you'll notice, mine is much smaller than everyone else's. That's what happens when you use Zephyr Wool-Silk instead of Kidsilk Haze. But I love this yarn so I don't care. And really, those other shawls are huge! I think mine will be more "average" sized. Well, it will be more average sized if I ever finish it. I'm still racing for last place.
Also on the needles are my Toasty Toes socks.
Yummy yarn from Emily and this is sock one, almost done. But they have been set aside for deadline knitting. Ya'll know how I love the deadline knitting.
These are socks for my daughter-in-law, Heather.
Why yes, I am addicted to the Magic Loop method. Why do you ask? Anyway, Heather's birthday is this coming Sunday and this is sock one. Anyone think I can actually finish the pair in time? Yeah, me neither.

Magic Loop is Fast!! i have faith that you can finish.

"Carole the knitter, Carole the knitter, Can she knit it? Yes she CAN!"
Posted by: Amy at September 7, 2006 7:46 AM
Depends how addicted you are to the Magic Loop Method...[smile]
Posted by: Ann at September 7, 2006 7:47 AM
I think you can! I think you can!
The shawl is lovely. Toasty Toes sock looks wonderful. I tried the magic loop (and 2 socks on 2 circs) and found that I knit too tightly. Is there a secret it?
Posted by: Karen at September 7, 2006 7:47 AM
May I ask, what's the pattern on the last sock? I love what it's doing with the yarn - looks like a mosaic stitch.
Posted by: Cara at September 7, 2006 7:59 AM
I have absolute faith that you can finish on time. And I so love the yarn with that pattern - they look like a perfect match.
Posted by: Karen at September 7, 2006 8:03 AM
What lovely projects you have on your needles!! I have never tried the magic loop method or even two circs yet....maybe this winter :-)
Posted by: Kim at September 7, 2006 8:07 AM
You can finish if you don't knit anything else and you don't sleep. Or you can give her the Toasty Toes socks and send her pair to your pal. The shawl is beautiful in Zephyr!

Great socks. I tried the Magic Loop method last year and, 8 sets of Addi Turbos later, just couldn't learn to love it.
Posted by: susan at September 7, 2006 8:15 AM
Of course you can finish them- that hardly seems like a challenge for you!
Posted by: Carla at September 7, 2006 8:15 AM
Deadline knitting, at least for me, always means work on something else. Good luck getting them finished!
The shawl is beautiful even if you are in last, this is the best kind of race to come in last -- you still get a shawl at the end.
Posted by: Mindy at September 7, 2006 8:37 AM
the shawl is truly impressive to me. I have yet to finish one. I like the socks too. What pattern is the sock for Heather? I luuvv Magic Loop, too.
Posted by: Paula at September 7, 2006 8:56 AM
Wow, I love that Toasty Toes sock!! I love that you're racing for last place. ; ) You're a winner, darlin', no matter what -- and what a great "trophy" you'll have in the end!
Posted by: Vicki at September 7, 2006 8:58 AM
You've made a lot of progress on the shawl, especially considering you finished and blocked a whole other shawl before starting! The Zephyr should show the pattern nicely.
Posted by: Monica at September 7, 2006 8:59 AM
Hey, congrats on 300 posts! Tomorrow will be my 375th; it's pretty amazing how enriching and addicting blogging has become. I love your Moth, and Emily is lucky to get such pretty socks.
Posted by: Birdsong at September 7, 2006 8:59 AM
That shawl is spectacular! I am putting that on my must-knit-list. The socks look toasty too. You are one rockin knitter.
Posted by: Emily at September 7, 2006 9:01 AM
Well, I think you can do it. If you don't plan to do much else, and knit whenever you have a spare moment.
Posted by: Ruth at September 7, 2006 9:03 AM
I recently tried Magic Loop and am hopelessly devoted to it too. Love it. Why do you ask? It doesn't hurt my fingers, that's why!
Knit, Carole, Knit!

All I do is ML - I even use it for sweater arms. I haven't knit a sweater flat in...forever. Okay so I haven't knit a sweater in forever, either, what of it? ;o)
Okay apparently I'm still a little cranky....going to drink more coffee...
Posted by: Jess at September 7, 2006 9:11 AM
Moth is looking nice! Magic Loop - just started trying it out. Not sure I like it. But to be fair, I need to knit an entire pair to see if I get more comfy with it. So far, I'm kinda klutzy with it.
Posted by: Chris at September 7, 2006 9:19 AM
The last sock is getting a very neat patterning (sp) effect.
Keep on knittting on that shawl, we are all looking forward to see it finished :)
Posted by: Isela at September 7, 2006 9:21 AM
What pattern are you using for the the toasty toes sock? ... and what the heck, how about the pattern for the second sock as well? Everything looks lovely.
Posted by: Liz W. at September 7, 2006 9:26 AM
I love the magic loop, as well. Easier on my hands.
I love the Wing of the Moth. It has such a neat looking texture.
Posted by: Laurie at September 7, 2006 9:42 AM
Of course you can do it; this is only Thursday after all :)
Posted by: Julie at September 7, 2006 10:12 AM
You can finish, Carole, I have faith! And you aren't kidding about the Moth shawls in KSH. Mine is going to be HUGE!!
Posted by: Leah at September 7, 2006 10:13 AM
I'd like to know what the pattern is on that last sock (the one for Heather), too. It's cool.
Posted by: Martha at September 7, 2006 10:28 AM
Love those sock colors! And I bet you will finish the shawl in time for Rhinebeck, which is all that really matters.
Posted by: Lucia at September 7, 2006 10:35 AM
Congrats on 300 posts! What yarn are you using for that last sock? It is very cool. And I think your Zephyr shawl will be yummy.
Posted by: Chris at September 7, 2006 10:47 AM
I love what that pattern is doing to those socks.. Which pattern are you using for them? The shawl is going to be amazing I think! I think the woool/silk is goint o be more satisfying too ;o)) Yeah for last place! LOL
Posted by: Michelle at September 7, 2006 10:49 AM
Congratulations on your 300th post! I love the shawl in that yarn -- it's going to be STUNNING. And I'm thinking that Heather's sock is F&F and that the yarn is making it look so groovy -- no?!?
Posted by: Kathy at September 7, 2006 10:51 AM
Congrats on your 300th post! Everytime I log into my little control panel thingy I marvel at the fact I still having something to say :o) Your socks and the moth look great!
Posted by: amanda at September 7, 2006 11:44 AM
300! Wow. Congratulations. I love the shawl (and am in love with Zephyr too). Great socks and if anyone can get a pair done by Sunday, it is you my friend.

YOU ARE SO PROLIFIC. ITS A GIFT
Posted by: blogless sharon at September 7, 2006 12:09 PM
Congratulations! The shawl looks gorgeous, the socks look great (Magic Loop rules), and . . . 300 posts. Quite a milestone!
Posted by: --Deb at September 7, 2006 12:10 PM
The shawl looks great and I do like that the shawl would be smaller in regular laceweight and not mohair. I'm allergic to mohair, so I can't use it anyway, but the moth shawl blocks out so huge, that if it's "average" size using laceweight wool, that might be just the ticket for me to make it. Good luck with the socks! Both look great.
Posted by: Wanda at September 7, 2006 12:20 PM
I am a magic loop devotee as well! Love it!
Everything is beautiful :)
Posted by: jillian at September 7, 2006 12:25 PM
giggle...........racing for last place! I'm SO cheering you on!!!
Posted by: christine at September 7, 2006 1:42 PM
That Wing of the Moth looks beautiful! I can't believe you've done so much so quickly. I love the Zephyr, it's good stuff.
Those toasty toes socks look good enough to eat, yum.

Those socks are great. The ones for daughter-in-law are such cool colors! Your wing of the moth shawl is beautiful!
Posted by: Kelly at September 7, 2006 2:58 PM
I love the stitch pattern on that last sock. What is it??
Posted by: elizabeth at September 7, 2006 3:02 PM
I too love the stitch pattern of that last sock. Well both socks are lovely actually :-)
Go real slow on that shaw ya hear.
Posted by: michelle at September 7, 2006 3:44 PM
Happy 300th birthday!! hehe I really love MagicLoop. I rarely do anything else now but I need more loooooong addis so I can have more sock projects going at one time! Is there such a thing as too many sock WIPs?? :)
You GO girl - you're all about that deadline knitting!!
Posted by: Laura at September 7, 2006 4:49 PM
Wow, 300 posts! Too cool.
Yes you will probably finish the socks in time. The magic loop method is the way to make socks. You have your needles "attached". you don't have to look for the "missing one". I need to have alot more things that are together. (yes when I was little my Mom attached my mittens to my coat. Not with the "idiot string" but little clippy things.)

congrats on 300 posts!whew! that's alot.. and I have enjoyed them very much!
Love love love the socks ! both of them. and yes, all the inquiring minds want to know - what's the pattern?
Posted by: Teyani at September 7, 2006 6:55 PM
The evolution of the blog world has been amazing. 300th post! It helps that your knitting is so beautiful.
Posted by: Laurie at September 7, 2006 9:41 PM
Congrats on this blog milestone! I love "listening" to what you have to say Carole! And like the rest of the bunch, dish on the two sock patterns please? :)
Posted by: Debi Leshin at September 7, 2006 9:43 PM
Happy 300th! (Don't say that very often!) Love the fantastic socks. I have a question about the toasty toes: what size needle/what gauge are you getting? I just started socks with my toasty toes and I'm can't decide if I'm knitting stoutly enough. I'm getting about 6.5 per inch.
Posted by: aimee at September 7, 2006 10:37 PM
You'll definitely be able to finish it in time, no doubt about that! Beautiful work, and Happpy 300th entry!
Posted by: Dipsy D at September 8, 2006 3:37 AM
Congrats on 300! Love the color of your Moth Shawl. Cute socks too. Such the busy knitter!
Posted by: Kathleen at September 8, 2006 7:45 AM
A vote for yes, they will be finished in time. And also a question - what pattern are you using for your Toasty Toes?
Posted by: ann at September 8, 2006 9:44 AM
300 posts. Wow. I'll have to look at how many I have. I have no idea. I don't like deadline knitting either. At all. I avoid it at all costs. If you don't finish in time, I say wrap up what you have and then take them back and finish them. Wing of the Moth looks to be almost done. You sure do whip out the shawls.
Posted by: Karen at September 8, 2006 6:25 PM
Why, I do believe I recognize that last colorway! ;)
Posted by: carole at September 8, 2006 8:41 PM
You can do it Carole! Beautiful WIP's, by the way.
I like the Magic Loop, too.
Posted by: Angelia at September 9, 2006 8:41 PM
I love the yarn you're using to make your DIL's socks in. And the pattern really makes use of the colors.
Posted by: sprite at September 12, 2006 2:52 PM
You can do it!! I love your TT sock and the colorway and pattern for Heather's sock is fabulous.
Posted by: Gracie at September 12, 2006 3:02 PM
The Moth looks gorgeous (and after seeing all the huge ones I'd say you were right to do it smaller!). And now for my stupid question of the month. The red sock in the middle picture - is that the pattern that I think it is? Because if it is, I'm going to have to finally knit it (the one I keep asking you about, repeatedly - but this time I know where to find it).
