Vacation Relaxing
Knitting was the only thing I did on vacation that even remotely resembled work. And we all know that knitting is not work so I think you can safely surmise that I relaxed a lot while at the Cape. Here are some photos of the things we all did to relax.
Ahhh. The beach again. You're probably sick of beach photos by now but I can't help myself. The beach that was closest to the house we stayed at was private and relatively deserted most days. I love a beach without people and so does Dale so this was the beach we chose most days.
There was reading. Hannah finished To Kill a Mockingbird and Dale almost finished Mayflower and I made some good progress through Under the Banner of Heaven.
We walked around our neighborhood a few times with the dog. We let her swim once or twice and one night witnessed a really pretty sunset.
We collected shells to bring home to remind us of our week at the beach. This was my idea and, while Dale and Hannah resisted at first, they finally got on board and started picking up shells with me.
We relaxed on the deck with martinis. It's pretty rare for Dale to drink a martini so I had to take this photo. I, on the other hand, had a martini every day. Ahem.
Of course we went out to eat. This lobster roll is absolutely HUGE and it's from a legendary place called The Raw Bar. This restaurant was 10 minutes from the house. TEN minutes. It's a true testimony to my incredible will power (and frugality) that we only went there twice and not every day.
So, for those of you concerned that I relaxed enough on my vacation, I hope your fears at put to rest now. My family and I relaxed very very well.

Do you like "Under the Banner of Heaven?" I read it awhile back, and I can't remember if I liked it or not. I'm in the middle of the Chronicles of Narnia, because I've never actually read all of them. Those will probably be my last for pleasure books for awhile, since school starts soon. :(

I never get tired of the beach photos...do you get tired of mountain photos?
I'm reading Mayflower now (on my iPod) and it's very good.

Oh, the family that reads together... ;) Great book selections for everyone! I have Mayflower on my wishlist, and the other two were great reads.

There's no such thing as too many beach photos! I can't seem to get happy with martinis even though Jason has aquired my favorite Bombay Sapphire but he made me a gin fizz this week that may be my new fav drink. I'm a sucker for anything with lemon.

I have baskets and bags and bottles full full full of shells, its an addiction. Sounds like a wonderful time.

That looks like an awesome vacation. I love the beach without people too. In fact, it's the only way I even like the beach. It's amazing that you could find an empty one like that. Very cool.

Oh, that looks like a perfect vacation. Quiet, beach, lobster rolls, martinis--what more could you want? (And do you mean that someday I'll be able to sit on the beach and read--and not chase sandy toddlers all over the place?? ;)

I read Under the banner of Heaven a while back and found it fascinating though somewhat disturbing.
Love seeing pictures of the beach. There can never be too many beach pictures - especially for those of us who are in the throes of winter...

Is it possible to get sick of beach pictures?? I prefer lobster rolls Connecticut style - no mayonnaise and drenched in hot butter.

What, only one martini a day? Slacker.
We spent a day down the Cape this summer and capped it off with lobster rolls. I asked the hubby how much money he needed for two lobster rolls and sodas and he said $40. I thought he was kidding. As you know, he wasn't kidding. $^%&# summer prices.

Oooh, that lobster roll looks so good! We don't get things like that here much. Of course, we live in a landlocked state. That might have something to do with it.
Your beach pics are lovely, and even though I'm sure it's hard to come home, I'm glad you're back.

I don't like seafood at all. Imagine that! I think it's cuz I can't get past the smell. I know, I'm weird. I do however, like collecting seashells. Only if they're by the seashore. haha
